Ruth Scott is a member of the American Bar Association and the LA County Bar, and is admitted to practice before all California Courts, and the United States District Court Central District of California.
Ms. Scott was part of the litigation team at Castro & Associates with an extensive legal and research background. She joined Pierce Construction Law when it was opened by David Pierce.
Ruth Scott is noted for her extensive writing skills. She has prepared both appellate briefs and writs and has participated in numerous site investigations that required interaction with structural, mechanical, and architectural experts.
Ruth Scott came to the Castro firm in 1988 and transitioned to the Pierce Construction Law firm in 2019 and has been responsible for a variety of construction defect cases in Southern California, involving hundreds of condominium projects and single-family residences. She assisted Mr. Castro in the acclaimed Monterey Hills case, contributing notably to both litigation and trial. She has brought these same skills to every other trial and arbitration in which she has participated. Notably, Ms. Scott was involved in the litigation over the apartment collapse that resulted in 16 deaths as a result of the Northridge Earthquake. Ms Scott also second-chaired in The Promenade Case, the first structural engineering design defect case in Los Angeles County.
Ruth Scott was formerly associated with insurance defense firms where she handled numerous claims. In addition, Ms. Scott was involved in complex business litigation, attorney malpractice, and toxic tort litigation which benefited from her outstanding writing skills.
Early on in Ms. Scott’s career, she clerked with the Employee Relations Division of the Los Angeles City Attorney, and served as a Research Attorney in the Appellate, and Law and Motion departments for the Fresno Superior Court. She has also clerked at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
