Toneata Martocchio is licensed to practice in all the courts of the State of California, the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California; and U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California.

Education
Toneata Martocchio was ranked second in her class at San Francisco State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, summa cum laude, in 1984.  She was the recipient of the Louis M. Wasserman Award for best political science paper, “Politics of Africa.”  She authored another, “Governance in Outer Space,” that was presented to Congress, and interned with the NASA-Ames University Consortium for Astrolaw Research. 

Ms. Martocchio earned her Juris Doctorate Degree in 1987 from the University of California Hastings College of the Law, and became a life member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity.  She was a Moot Court Board Instructor and taught appellate writing and argument to first year students. 

Experience
Toneata Martocchio has practiced construction law with Castro & Associates since 2008.  She also handled construction cases while an associate with the Law Office of Randy Thomas, in Woodbridge, California, and, earlier, with Gassett, Perry & Frank in San Jose and Santa Cruz, California.  She has practiced in related areas, including professional liability, torts, business litigation, bankruptcy, public entity liability, product liability, and transactional matters. 

Toneata Martocchio brings a strong transactional background to Castro & Associates.  She has researched, negotiated, invested, rehabilitated, managed, and sold commercial and residential properties in the greater Bay Area, Central Valley, and Foothills of California. 

Ms. Martocchio saved a historic 1887 commercial property scheduled for demolition by collaborating with the City of Oakdale Historic Society, its Board of Supervisors, and the State of California.  In addition, she successfully obtained historic landmark designation for a 1912 apartment building in Modesto.  She successfully subdivided separate parcels on a 503 acre ranch near Yosemite.

Ms. Martocchio’s has extensive experience working with clients in discovery, law and motion, pleadings, and developing a legal strategy for client cases.  Last year she was integrally involved in the successful negotiation and settlement with the County of Los Angeles for the reconveyence of real estate parcels to an elderly client’s estate.

Community Service
Toneata Martocchio remains involved with the community: she serves on the Santa Cruz County Bar Association Attorney - Client Dispute Committee; she received the Court Designated Child Advocates Annual Outstanding Contribution Award, Santa Clara County; she fundraises for summer camps for disadvantaged youth; she has coached girls basketball, softball, volleyball, track and cheerleading teams in San Francisco, Copperopolis, and Angels Camp, California.
