David H. Pierce is licensed to practice in all courts of the State of California, the U. S. District Court, Central District of California, and is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association; the American Bar Association; and the California Trial Lawyers Association.

David H. Pierce attended UCLA, earning a Bachelor's in Psychology in 1971. In 1974 he received an M.A. in Environmental Health Science from the California State University, Northridge. He earned his doctorate in 1984 from the Southern California Institute of Law in Santa Barbara.


David Pierce came to Castro & Associates with a strong background in construction defect litigation. For almost a decade, Mr. Pierce handled all aspects of complex construction litigation at Spray, Gould & Bowers. There he represented a broad cross section of clients, including developers, general contractors and subcontractors (both as plaintiffs and defendants), design professionals, and owners. Most notably he successfully represented the general contractor in a 20 million dollar construction defect case for the 1000 Westcreek units in Santa Clarita.

Prior to joining Castro & Associates Mr. Pierce practice included business interference tort cases, insurance bad faith claims, condemnation, real estate transactions, and governmental tort liability. He has also represented various public entities, among them the County of Ventura, Public Works, Transportation, Environmental Health and Sheriff’s Departments. 

Mr. Pierce has served as a Temporary Judge for small claims court, as well as a civil case arbitrator.  He was also a member of the prominent environmental law firm, Haines, Russ, McMurry, and De Recat, where he handled environmental clean-up litigation and contributed a chapter to the definitive treatise on Eminent Domain, a work found in every California law library.

Mr. Pierce brought to his legal practice nearly a decade of experience as an Environmental Health Officer for Santa Barbara County ultimately directing countywide programs for the regulation and enforcement of multiple environmental concerns, including water and food safety, wastewater, land use, and hazardous materials, appearing before regulatory agencies and legislative bodies at all levels.

At Castro and Associates Mr. Pierce has spent nearly 15 years representing owners of customized  single family residences, condominiums, apartments and commercial projects in conjunction with claims of construction defects that include issues related to insurance coverage analysis, defect analysis, cost of repair and allocation of liability to responsible parties. 

During his tenure with the firm he has litigated dozens of cases through mediation, settlement, arbitration and/or trial.
